Surpassed historical records in three main categories
FORT WORTH, Texas – 2018 was an exceptional year for the American Airlines Cargo team, the division broke several records in performance, volume, and revenue, ending the year with more than $1 billion in revenue.
With volumes at an all-time high, the airline also managed to break all records in numbers of cargo carried on schedule (or FAB for its acronym in English). The trend continued through the end of the year, setting FAB record highs in six of the last seven months. New routes, strategic capacity planning and exceptional teamwork across the organization led to the best annual performance numbers ever recorded in the airline’s history.
“Our Operations team set all-time high records while moving unprecedented volumes of freight and mail through our system this year, reaching our typical peak fall volumes month after month,” said David Vance, Vice President of Operations for American Airlines Cargo. “It’s impressive to say the least, and it makes me extremely proud to lead cargo operations.”
Driven by record volumes and exceptional performance, the business also posted more than $1 billion in revenue for the first time in its history.
“We’ve had an incredible year,” said Rick Elieson, President of American Airlines Cargo. “We set out to break records and that is exactly what we have done. We achieved a significant milestone in revenue, but more importantly, our teams processed unprecedented volumes and still achieved the best operational performance in our company’s history. Thanks to the daily effort of each of our team members in this organization, 2018 was definitely a historic year.”
