AMERICAN AIRLINES ANNOUNCES NEW ROUTES TO THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

In the summer of 2019 American will inaugurate two new direct routes and an additional frequency for the city of Santo Domingo

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic- American Airlines announced today that beginning in the summer of 2019 the airline will be expanding its presence at Las Américas International Airport in Santo Domingo. Beginning June 6, 2019, American will begin a weekly flight to Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) in Charlotte, North Carolina and a weekly summer seasonal flight to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) in Texas. Both routes will be operated on Saturdays Additionally, American would start on this date a fifth daily flight to Miami International Airport (MIA).

The information was released by Mr. Oliver Bojos, general director of American Airlines for the Dominican Republic, Haiti, St. Marteen and Bermuda, who stressed that these new routes respond to the company’s commitment to offer a service according to the needs of country customers. “Today we have different destinations than those traditionally traveled by our Dominican passengers. We see how the market has been changing and our routes and frequencies seek to meet those needs,” said Bojos.

“As of June 2019, we will be connecting the airports of Charlotte, North Carolina and Dallas/Fort Worth with Las Américas International Airport. Likewise, we have added a new daily frequency from Miami International Airport to AILA”, he highlighted.

“These new direct flights to AILA will allow the entry of new tourists and business passengers into the country who will be able to travel directly to the country from these cities,” said Mr. Bojos.

The airline will operate its flight from Charlotte with an Airbus 320 that has a capacity of 150 passengers and its flights from Dallas/Fort Worth and Miami with a Boeing 737-800, with capacity for 160 passengers.

With these new routes to the Dominican Republic, American Airlines complements its current service to the city of Santo Domingo, which includes 28 weekly flights to Miami and a weekly seasonal flight to Philadelphia.

American currently offers 85 weekly flights from the country, connecting Santo Domingo, Punta Cana, Santiago and Puerto Plata with the airline’s hubs in Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, New York (JFK) (seasonally) and Philadelphia, and with Boston.
