LOUIS VUITTON AND SOPHIE TURNER CREATE A NEW SILVER LOCKIT BRACELET TO HELP CHILDREN AT RISK

As part of the LOUIS VUITTON for UNICEF alliance and on the occasion of Universal Children’s Day, Louis Vuitton launches a new Silver Lockit bracelet, designed by Sophie Turner.

Universal Children’s Day, celebrated on November 20, marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989. It is a day to honor children and mobilize people to contribute to saving the children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfill their potential. As a continuation of its #MAKEAPROMISE campaign, Louis Vuitton, with the help of Sophie Turner, upholds its commitment to raise awareness and funds for UNICEF, to support the world’s most vulnerable children.

Sophie Turner, British actress and Friend of the House, was invited by Louis Vuitton to design a special Silver Lockit bracelet, to collaborate with LOUIS VUITTON for UNICEF and thus continue its promise to help children. Inspired by her concept of luck, the bracelet was designed with a red and white woven cord, with a circular charm with an illustration of a rabbit, taken from the design * of her most recent tattoo of hers.

“The objective of the bracelet is to bring luck to the people to whom the funds are directed. It is about uniting people from all over the world because UNICEF works globally and the central theme of Louis Vuitton is travel. Red is considered a lucky color in China and white matches the circular charm on the bracelet; a rabbit White rabbits and rabbit feet are considered lucky objects in many parts of the world”, explains Sophie Turner.

By purchasing the Sophie Turner Silver Lockit, customers have the opportunity to help raise funds for UNICEF, contributing to efforts for children in vulnerable situations, such as refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. With the help of UNICEF, the Bangladesh government has been able to vaccinate 900,000 children and adults against cholera and save 263,000 children from malnutrition.

Since the launch of Silver Lockit in 2016, the alliance has raised more than US$5 million for UNICEF.

The Silver Lockit, inspired by the Tumbler Lock, invented by George Vuitton in 1890 to protect his clients’ most precious belongings, is a symbol of protection. It was chosen as the symbol to seal the commitment one makes to help children at risk. Sophie Turner’s Silver Lockit is on sale for €300, €100 of which is donated to UNICEF.

The Sophie Turner Silver Lockit will launch on November 20, 2018 on louisvuitton.com and in more than 160 Louis Vuitton boutiques around the world.
